A vivid survey of kid driven pyrotechnics shows the popular Roman candles firecrackers and rockets, including novelty items like snakes in the grass and the triangle. Prices range from five cents a pack to premium cannons, with private displays costing up to four figures and a historic, famed 187? Indianapolis show noted.
Chairman Taggart of the state Democratic committee says the campaign will not open until the heat subsides and a rally location and date are yet to be decided, likely delaying until early September as a committee meeting in about two weeks settles details. He praises Gov Chase as a strong nominee and predicts Indiana turning Democratic this fall.
In Baltimore on June 30 a visiting couple listed as Mr and Mrs St. Cloud were found dead in room 215 at Carrollton House after overdue payment. Police report indicates they died from a rough on tats and laudanum combination. The man had served in the Grenadier Guards. The woman is believed to be Miss Story from Danbury Connecticut.
A balloon ascent with Captain Dale, his son, and others ended at 1000 feet when the balloon burst over a lake. Dale died amid wreckage after leaping from the car, while his son was thrown 50 feet and survived. Several spectators were injured and women fainted as bystanders endured the scene. The balloon was reportedly rotten.
In HomersroD Pennsylvania on June 30 a Carnegie steel mill shut down all departments and discharged 3800 men. The old wage contract expired and workers refused to work without a new scale, while owners also refused to sign one. No disturbances occurred as workers left quietly.
A colored man claiming to be Tip-o-Tip, son of Cetewayo, lectured for African heathens and gained access to homes in Toxepo. His two accomplices aided a spree that stole about $1,000 in valuables from four houses in a week. He is sought in Milwaukee and Cincinnati for similar schemes.
A south bound Cotton Belt passenger train collided with a freight train near Little Rock on Wednesday morning. Engineers McNeill and Norris were killed. Two firemen died of injuries. Several passengers were badly hurt and multiple others sustained fatal injuries including Mrs. J. Lester and W. M. Morrow family, H. B. Morrow, Mrs. S. D. Morris and child.
Police officer Maroney encountered Nathan Watalsky an Italian Israelite and peddler assaulting his wife at his Eddy Street home. He had earlier struck her with a hammering spittoon, provoking a violent scene as neighbors looked on. Watalsky admitted the account.
Paris police again searched the apartments of Clerk Crenier on Wednesday night uncovering hidden documents behind a chest. The papers include plans and specifications for a proposed man-of-war and the signature of the minister of marine approving its construction.
An immense 15,000 seat glass hall is to rise on land off the lakefront opposite Van Buren, filling lake area outside Illinois Central tracks. Ansel Oppenheim was named president of the Chicago St Paul and Kansas City railway replacing J M Egan who resigned.

Reports from OmaltaA Nebraska and Lincoln Nebraska June 30 state Terrel of Texas arrived declaring the People’s Party will not endorse prohibition nominees and will not invite dissension by indorsing prohibitionists. A Washington dispatch quotes Senator Steward denying any bolting letter, while Nebraska independents met at Lincoln to name delegates for the national convention.
On Tuesday 4 090 Chicago newsboys and bootblacks were bathed in a parade with bands and 100 Detroit urchins joining. They scrubbed dirt from bodies at the second armory with sand soap and sandpaper as newspapers sold photos of the “aristocratic” gamins afterward.
A dapple gray pony pulling a dog cart dashed through Tux Sun office on Delaware street.
