Newcastle and City Unite for Interurban Car Line Opening
A joint Newcastle Indianapolis event celebrated the first trip of the new interurban line on the Indianapolis Newcastle route. About 350 Newcastle businessmen greeted by Indianapolis guests rode in a special car train, with roses and music, then paraded through downtown Indianapolis to mark the opening and showcase economic benefits for both cities and along the route. Local officials and business leaders praised the line as a boost for commerce and Indiana, while whistles from plant towers and intervening yards sounded in welcome.
