At St Louis the McKinley Hobart ticket dominates the scene as New York pledges solid support for Hobart. Ballots swing with fierce crowd energy, Quay and Reed advocates clash with McKinley backers, and Gov Bulkeley and Trevans contend for president while Trobart secures the vice nomination as the hall empties after a raucous session.
Crowds of about 14 000 gathered in Canton on June 1 to celebrate McKinley’s nomination. Attorney Case spoke at the McKinley home presenting greetings, and McKinley thanked locals for decades of support. Governor Morton of New York sent a congratulatory telegram recalling past remarks.

They contended three tracks and judges form a single scheme to dodge a 1855 statute restricting racing frequency and duration. Miller accused Ketcham of misstating facts as read from the record.
In Indianapolis street drama near Seventh street and Calumet avenue, Brown a 15 year old colored boy is under arrest for stabbing Herbert Bembo a 18 year old white youth after a quarrel that began with a nickname. Ransford Pulliam 8 white, aided by throwing stones, aiding the knife attack. Bembo rushed to his home for treatment. doctors fear the outcome. Police continue the case next Thursday. Died: Mrs Tiannah Metcalf, 72, at 822 N Senate Ave. Funeral Sunday at 3 p.m. from Frederick Bladkett’s home with interment at Crown Hill.

Democrats seek members at 377 Massachusetts Ave to join a Chicago trip for the presidential campaign. A prowler steals from a Delaware Street home, missing a $500 purse while taking $20 jewelry. Mrs. Sarah Schmidisp dies in Warrensburg, Missouri, formerly of Indianapolis. A grand bicycle parade and carnival at Armstone's park features music, dance, fireworks, prizes for best decorated bike and costume, proceeds supporting the cycle path.
The forty sixth annual commencement was held Thursday night in the When building. Rev EL FE Dewhurst spoke on Business and culture. Mars MM O Hill and Miss Lora Jammesing and Miss Clara L Peery performed piano pieces. KF J Heeb issued diplomas and Dr TH Brown addressed the class of 67 graduates.

Newport June 19 Alonzo Walling was found guilty of Pearl Bryan murder. Jurors deliberated nearly twice as long as the Jackson case before delivering the verdict. Walling showed no emotion as crowds cried and his brothers wept. His attorneys said a new trial will be sought. Walling was ordered moved to Covington as court adjourned.
