Mentor Ends Life Likely From Aerial Failure

Henry Rodemeyer, an aero plane enthusiast from Jenney City, a member of the Aero club, died by suicide after a failed test flight. He planned a hillside flight near his home over Hackensack meadows and had completed a propeller and steering device for an aeroplane. The tragedy followed months of discouragement as his experimental craft struck oak branches and collapsed. His wife recalled his happiness before the setback and that he could not sleep, taking early walks before daybreak. County medical investigators found the motive likely tied to the failed test, and Rodemeyer’s body was cremated as per his wishes.
