Joy Ride Ends Tragically in Bronx Crash
June 14. Harry Yorkel, 19, son of a Madison garage proprietor on East 83rd street, took a touring car with John Gleason and two girls May Lane and May O’Hara. At 3 am the auto struck a telegraph post in the Bronx. Gleason died. Yorkel and the two girls were pulled from a mud hole. Yorkel died as police attended to Gleason. The car, owned by Leo S. Bing of 198 Broadway, was a total wreck. Police detained the girls and issued a general alarm for Yorkel.
