Kingston Jamaica June 10 The officers and crew of the American fleet laugh at a funny blunder by the Spaniards last Monday as a Spanish officer in a launch under a flag of truce boarded the Town believing it signaled surrender. The supposed white flag was Captain Bob Evens night shirt blowing in the breeze causing the confusion.
News from the American fleet says Admiral Sampson ordered strong night defense against torpedo boat raids. Eager crewmen on the Texas fired on the Marblehead and Vixen but the shots missed. The cruisers displayed signals to avert a second shot from the battleship.
