A Washington special says the Heuredixx assassination and unrest prompt talks of annexation as humanitarian and political necessity. An armored cruiser will guard Santo Domingo waters while a U S syndicate controls finances, customs, and railways, pressing for U S intervention.

In Augusta Georgia on a July night several black youths clashed over five cents. Lawrence Colquitt allegedly threw a brick striking Bud Walker behind the ear and causing instant death. Colquitt remains at large. he is described as the cleverest boy in the crowd and not blamed.
