Chicago identification probes Constantine case in Tivoli
Since last Thursday, Misa Ellen Schriever identified Constantine at a Chicago restaurant. The man in custody says he is Fritz Constantine, brother of Frank, and denies the Chicago charges. He was discharged from Contractor Barrie, went to New York, claims his mother Mrs Constantine owns a New York grocery, and says he has never been to Chicago. Deputy Hoffman says Constantine, once a timekeeper for Barrie, befriended a village girl and was lured to Tivoli last Thursday. The first morning train from New York brought him to Tivoli and to a hotel saloon where he was detained. Chicago officers are expected to transport him to Chicago. Constantine admits prior burglary time in an Elisia reform school. The identifying girl is using an assumed name. Constantine’s counsel, Judge John Morschauser, says alibi proof will be provided.
