Prison escape and capture in Marion County case
Rich, a 60 year old negro prisoner, escaped Friday morning from the Marion county workhouse after paying a $150 fine. He had been serving a sentence for shooting Constable James Cordray and returned to the workhouse at noon to settle costs before being released. Cordray, visiting the Rich farm near Malott Park to arrest a friend, was shot through a closed door. Rich, once a trusted inmate, slipped away during hospital and workhouse movements after months in the facility.

Man Throws Girl From Precipice in Fatal Attack
Victims Bertha Hollin and Frank Kerns were left conscious and seriously hurt after a man attacked them at the Kansas City precipice scene. Hollin suffered a fractured skull and blunt head trauma after being struck with a water pipe and dragged along 30 feet before being hurled over the west bluffs toward railroad tracks.
