Lottery Agents Ready to Tell All to Court
A former Indiana legislator and lottery operatives face legal action as Edgar J. Swisher, jailed in Indianapolis for selling lottery tickets, pledges to reveal all about the San Luis lottery scheme centered in Columbus, Ohio. Deputy U.S. marshall T. B. Martin and Post Office Inspector R. K. Hosford arrested George J. Kayser of Clay City on bringing tickets into the state. Kayser, a former Clay County recorder and 1897 state representative, bonded status set before U.S. Commissioner Higgins in Terre Haute. Legal experts say buyers may demand refunds from Swisher and other agents, as illegality of the business makes ticket purchases potentially reversible.
