In Frankfort Capt. Anderson, newly chosen clerk for the State board of health, faces scrutiny as insiders cite two influential pulls via Col. Durbin's regiment and Hart from Frankfort. Anderson just returned from the Philippines and is reportedly studying Dr. Gunn's Medical Advisor.

Camden New Jersey July 16 Peter Joseph Kremer 76 was so shaken when his wife No 7 accused him of bigamy in marrying No 8 that his heart wobbled and he was taken to a hospital instead of a jail. Kremer says he has had seven marriages six wives are dead and the alleged No 8 is his nurse.
Washington July 16. A National Civil Reform League subcommittee reports abuses in the appointment and pay of House of Representatives subordinates. It cites patronage as the cause, detailing absenteeism, inflated salaries, blackmail, and 357 staffers paid 400000 annually, with concerns over restoring patronage in 5000 dollar posts.
The Indianapolis street railway company issued 300000 of Citizens' street railway consols at 5 percent to retire an equal issue of Citizens' first mortgage bonds at 6 percent. A 700000 issue of Citizens' second mortgage bonds was replaced with consols June 1. There is now 5500000 on Indianapolis company 4s and 4000000 Citizens' consols at 5. Both mature July 1, 1935, when the companys franchise expires.
Wilkes Barre Pa July 16 The stationary firemen refused to work Tuesday causing nearly all mines to shut down and 25000 to 28000 miners laborers and breaker employes to be out of work. Firemen at Hazelton and Scranton did not strike. Pumps and fans kept running to prevent gas and flooding. A general strike may extend the impact to about 109000 workers if all firemen join.
The mayor says the Sieg inquiry ordering does not start a general anti-saloons drive. He notes the case concerns alleged gambling and minors at Sieg's saloon, not proven yet, and vows similar action if charges arise against others.

Three men E O Brien William Bowers and Carl Rogers were injured by falling walls as firefighters struggled with weak water pressure from the drought. The blaze started likely from spontaneous combustion among lard kegs and consumed a million pounds of meat and loads of lard.
Chicago reports July 16 prices climb as September wheat, corn, and oats advance despite scattered rains in grain regions. Early lows gave way to higher quotes with corn up to 50 cents, wheat between 66 and 68 cents, and oats around 31 to 32 cents amid heavy selling.

Emma Dickert suffers serious injuries after a runaway horse collides with her buggy at Merrill and New Jersey streets while she and her mother were riding. The incident occurred Tuesday morning and she was thrown from the vehicle but not fatally hurt.
