Swift Bear leads about 100 Sioux warriors toward the South Dakota bad lands after weeks of killing game in Wyoming and stealing sheep outfits. Deputies pursue, but troops are reportedly unavailable, raising fears of an incipient uprising among Sioux and Cheyennes near Pine Ridge on July 15.
At the south door of the courthouse on Saturday forenoon the Broad Ripple electric road was sold to William S. Brown by Receiver Cockrum for 200000. Attorney Winter, for Indianapolis Street Railway owners, opened bidding at 150000 with 10000 jumps. Winter’s last bid reached 199950. An appeal to the supreme court by attorney Ketcham for the McDonald estate was filed soon after, not affecting the sale. Brown declined to reveal details until sale confirmation Monday.
