In New York a Supreme Court session at White Plains began to determine if Harry K Thaw should be released from Matteawan asylum. Evelyn Nesbit Thaw testified via affidavit fearing for her life if freed, claiming Thaw’s insanity is intermittent and that he threatened to kill her. Witnesses described his rational days, his sports interest, and Thaw’s calm demeanor during the hearing.
James H. Bacon a 36 year old lineman for Central Union Telephone was electrocuted while working on a pole at Forty Sixth street and Central Avenue. He fell from 25 feet into Charlies Scudder’s arms and died instantly. The accident involved a downed tree near lines of the Indianapolis Heat and Light company. Bacon had 15 years of lineman experience and lived at 806 West Twenty seventh Street.
Mme Puccini, wife of renowned Italian composer, sentenced to five months in prison for causing the death of her maid by unjustly accusing her of having excessive affection for Signor Puccini. She must also pay a large sum to the dead girl's parents. The text notes Puccini separated from his wife after the accusation.
Laura Stafford wife of Edinburg town marshal was arrested on a perjury charge after signing an affidavit aiding May Alexander to obtain a marriage license for Don Downing. Downing faces bigamy charges. Alta Downing filed the warrant. Stafford fainted on arrest and was released without bond to appear in court.
The Salvation Army will open a fresh air camp at the Car Fisher farm two miles from New Augusta next Monday. Twenty five sick children and weary mothers will spend a week there with meals, pure water, and medical care provided. Donations from Indianapolis firms and citizens support equipment, food, and cash contributions for the camp as volunteers organize fundraisers and sign up support from churches and individuals.
Public call to aid the Salvation Army fresh air work for tired mothers and babies at Fisher farm. Major Escott invites auto owners to participate by contacting him on Main 2276 or at his Baldwin block office room 79. Indianapolis drives a worthy charity effort.
Two killed and two fatally injured when a handcar and pushcar trailer are struck by a Colorado and Southern freight train on a curve at Platt Canon. About a dozen others sustain minor injuries.
Samuel Goldberg, 22, a junk buyer, was sentenced to one year in the workhouse by Judge Pritchard, with the sentence suspended. He stole a car pet valued at $2 from Mrs. Gertrude Sylvester in West Indianapolis. This marked his second court appearance after prior charges of stealing a bath tub. Goldberg is the sole supporter of his mother. The judge warned that any future theft would require a full year in the workhouse.
Arthur Johnson, a Black man, entered a saloon at Indiana avenue and Vermont street Monday. He carried a large stone and struck the bar breaking bottles and causing damage. Police Bicycle Officers Todd and Irick arrested him on four charges.
Two additional trustees for Purdue University are to be commissioned by Gov Marshall soon. Charles Downing, reappointed from the State Board of Agriculture, will succeed himself. C M Hobbs of Bridgeport, named by the State Horticultural Society, will replace Sylvester Johnson of Irvington. Commissioner action follows submission to the governor under the law, with commissions issued accordingly. The governor recently appointed Charles Major of Shelbyville and confirmed George Ade’s appointment, the latter chosen by Purdue alumni.
The body of Lott Barger of 206 Columbia Avenue was found noon Monday under the Monon bridge over Fall Creek. He had shot himself and also attempted to hang himself. a rope was found around his neck. He was about years old with no known cause beyond alleged property troubles related to property distribution.
A bolt hit a residence at 1532 Lee Street during a storm this afternoon. Clarence Harris, occupant, was knocked from bed by the shock but escaped serious injury as he recovered.
During a Monday afternoon electrical storm lightning struck a box on an electric light pole in front of the Indianapolis Basket company's plant at 821 E. St. Clair Street. The flash put out power in the plant and offices were shaken by the shock. The fire department arrived but found no damage.
A weather disruption forces a rearranged schedule as a cloudburst makes the Toledo versus Indianapolis game infeasible. Officials announce a doubleheader to be played Tuesday to complete the series.

Theodore Hartman a butcher for Herman Bros at 1644 Madison Ave is accused of taking six hundred dollars belonging to the firm. Detectives Morgan and Stewart traced the path to Hartmans home near the market district but found his wife absent.
Contractors submit bids for county projects with George W. F securing the Buck Creek Julietta bridge bid at $57,780 the Pendleton Pike culvert at $670 by C B Roney and another culvert by Henry W Fieking at $600 and Pleasant Run culvert at $746.
