Nelson Simpson, of Binghamton, New York, regrets hosting a well dressed clerical couple who spent the night at his farm. Patrick Moriarty, bartender at Hoffman's saloon on Columbia avenue and West Nineteenth Street, was fined $25 by Judge Cox on Saturday for attempting to collect a bar bill with a beer glass. Fred Mason bought beer for the house and offered ten cents. Moriarty struck Mason, breaking his nose with the glass.

Judge Baker ruled that a four month pre bankruptcy payment to Boonville National Bank by William Folsom is not a transfer of property under bankrupt law. Money paid on a pre existing debt within four months of bankruptcy cannot be recovered for the bankrupt estate even if tied to a sole creditor.

Former Second Lieutenant Samuel F. Pague of the Fifteenth Infantry, who shot at Col. Crofton in 1885, killed himself with chloral in a Clark Street lodging house.
