Self Made Man Rising in Toledo Politics and Courts

Special to the Bun Toledo July 5 Judge Reynold R. Kinkade, elected as a Republican, sentenced five Toledo ice trust figures under anti trust law. His rise from orphan on an Iowa farm to Toledo Common Pleas judge is noted. He opposed a local political ring, once chaired a grand jury probe into business leaders, and defended his sentencing as enforcing the law. Lyman Wachenheimer, Toledo native and prosecutor, opposed bridge and Standard Oil interests, built a high crime decline, and later ran for prosecuting attorney as “the people’s champion.” He led indictments against bridge interests and pursued anti trust actions, including government ouster suits and probes into oil and rail firms.
