Washington Jan 28 Senator Money of Mississippi aired his critique in the senate and his comments on the Philippine question appeared blue penciled in the Congressional Record. He had been asked by Senator Hale what he would do with the Filipinos and he replied with a pointed quip that drew laughter before the editor’s changes.
London reports Gen Lord Kitcheners account of a Boer outflanking near Reitored. Eight British killed and wounded with 41 captured. Boer losses for the week total 31 killed 20 wounded 322 captured and 53 surrendered.
New York January 28 Andrew Carnegie condemned the killing of men in war as the foulest blot upon humanity. He argued civilized warfare cannot exist and criticized Britain for Transvaal actions and noted the shooting of Christian Filipinos, urging an end to this disgrace.
Maude Adams stands to gain as heiress to Wm. Kiskadden’s estate if Senator Hanna’s relief bill passes. Kiskadden, once a Tiffin resident, supervised transport of Colorado volunteers from Denver to Fort Union New Mexico. The contract resulted in the loss of 128 horses 32 wagons and gear. The bill requests $21 000 to compensate the estate. Hanna pursues swift action on the measure.

Wm Mills aged 40 a farmer was found dead in a roadside ditch three miles north of Hartford City Indiana on Tuesday morning. He was intoxicated and it is believed his horses ran away. The ditch contained about ten inches of water and Mills was frozen solid in the ice.
