Reports from Jan 27 describe a Monon line wreck ten miles north with eight killed and many injured as the train caught fire. Indianapolis wreck on the L N A C line followed, with four burned to death and widespread casualties reported amid wire difficulties.
Reports detail a fatal rail accident near Carmel as train No. 1 struck a culvert bridge. Engineer Strope and Conductor Abe Angle were injured, with Mrs. Eubanks among the dead as anxious relatives await word on missing friends.
News from Alabama Street reports the wreck survivors to be transported to the Monon freight depot. About 2,500 men and boys surged along the tracks from Noble to the depot. At least 50 of the 94 police present were in the crowd, ostensibly to restrain it.

Charles Haterle a 20 year old saloon keeper at 146 N Mississippi St. shot himself in the head with a 40 calibre revolver. Willian Rebinser found him dying on a sofa. the fatal wound pierced the brain and he died shortly before 10 o clock. No excuse given beyond ill health. he leaves a wife of seven years.
In Nebraska over a swindle attempt, Henry Emmerich chased away two men posing as lightning rod agents. He faced a contract claim of over 15 dollars with alleged charges escalating to 630 dollars. Emmerich warned them off with a shotgun and they fled the scene.
Washington reports Mrs Harrison kept butter at five cents above cost for cabinet members before a Deer Park trip. In police court, a large slate of drunks and prostitutes faced Judge Sullivan. fines and changes of venue were issued.
