George Thomas and James Hammell, labeled tramps, pulled pistols on two bicycle officers guarding burglaries north of West Newton Indiana. A two mile chase through mud and briars ended with the tramps captured after discarding their guns. They were fined twenty five dollars each for carrying concealed weapons.
At a semi monthly meeting the board took no action on fire escapes for the home. Secretary Mrs Julia Goodheart said they favor escapes but doubt funding from commissioners. She plans to press the issue with Commissioner Greer or wait for a legislative duty bill. Officials warn a night fire could trap 30 or 40 children in the central frame building.
