Treasurer Left Out of the Bill in Indiana Senate Debate
A heated legislative skirmish over the state depository bill centers on who should lead the state finance board. Indiana Senate committees weigh an Administration bill, an Auditor of State bill, and a bar association drafted proposal led by Linton A. Cox. Oscar Hadley, the elected treasurer, objects to excluding the treasurer from board membership and maintaining direct control of state funds. The bar association bill may be introduced before committee action, with careful review planned and no rushed vote.
