The county treasurer announces seizure of delinquent real estate tax payers personal property, with Cashier Smith claiming officers will seize pianos and play ragtime to entice delinquent owners to pay. The plan involves bringing musicians to the scene as pianos are taken.
Henry B. Miller United States consul at New Chiang reports Russian authorities are arresting American officers and sailors without cause. A week earlier street fights occurred between Russian soldiers and U S sailors from the gunboat Vicksburg, suggesting a link to the arrests.

The row stems from an 14 year old Hamburg incident where Mrs. Wetmore declined the prince of Wales luncheon invitation, allegedly prompting a vow that a Wetmore would never be received at court.
Empire theater manager Zimmerman believes an organized scheme by theater employees to steal admission checks and sell them to patrons. Ray Fields of 326 N Hast St was arrested Tuesday on larceny and loitering charges, formerly worked at the theater, confessed to detectives, implicating others, case continued in police court to bring in more employees.

Neighbors uncover a brutal scene in Pittsburgh as Vicent Vencelsick, a Polish immigrant, lies near death after a drunken assault on his wife with a steel rail cutter. The wife fights back with knives, killing him, while three sleeping children and the couple are badly injured or dead. Hospital condition described as critical for the children.
