SCRANTON Jan 13 Charles Dorne an employe at a livery stable dropped 40 feet down an elevator shaft Monday afternoon and died. His dog whined around the stable and led men to the shaft where they found the body. Indications showed the dog had tried to drag its master from the pit and signs of struggle were visible on Dorne.
A man identified as Hirtm Ford, a 40 year old former professional cook, died Tuesday after consuming large quantities of alcohol in Parkinsons saloon at the corner of Tennessee and South streets. He was found in an ante room about 10:30 PM and pronounced dead after ambulance removal. Ford, long a familiar figure around Union Station area, had worked in restaurants and scrubbed saloons for drinks.
Dr Ulick A Burke once a brilliant physician and famed eye and ear specialist dies in a patrol wagon in Chicago after being picked up freezing on the street. Brother of Thomas H Burke secretary for Teland, Burke was educated in France and spoke several languages. His fall from grace came after drink, ending his life as a vagrant.
