Quince volunteers to lead the steering committee until the assembly is functioning. Affected by an Allen County mix-up, the Patriotic Morganite of Hay Fame engages in current affairs with renewed interest.
The Indiana general assembly failed to appropriate money for its members and staff on Friday. Both chambers adjourned until 10 a.m. Monday for canvassing the governor and lieutenant governor votes. Committee announcements are postponed to Tuesday or Wednesday.
The senate debated whether Senator George Kell of Hunterton should remain as a hold-over or be sworn in as a new senator after district changes. Kell said he wants no action affecting the Ryan-Fleming contest. A committee was named to canvass the governor and lieutenant governor votes, then adjourned to Monday at 10 a.m.
The house met at 10:29 am with Quincy Adams Blankenship of Morgar county acting as temporary chairman. He said he would guide the steering committee for a few days while members learn the workflow. Carmichael led a prayer as rules were reported with minor changes. A bill to fund sessions with 105000 dollars was introduced. Senate caucus decision delays governor salary increase until Monday noon. Republicans did not caucus Friday morning as expected.

Brightwood water works show receipts 1914.40 and expenditures 2911.94 with potential profit 713.16 under new rates pending with Indianapolis water. Tomlinson Hall runs a deficit of 11182.82 since 1887. Board appropriations total 602219.35 with 44850.86 on hand and street repair funding of 25000. Payrolls include small sums for street, hall, bridge, sewer work and cleanup.
Dr. John M. Gaston, 93, prominent Indianapolis physician, died at his home from acute pneumonia. He practiced medicine in the city for over 50 years and helped found the Indiana Medical College. He once travelled to California by the Panama Isthmus and endured a hip injury requiring crutches in later years. Surviving children are George Gaston, Mrs. George Kahlo, Mrs. John Sherwood, and Mrs. Joseph R. Eastman.
Mattie sues Ed G. Bird for divorce claiming he came home drunk and threatened her. London, Jan 11. Rumor says a man attempted to kill the prince of Wales as he rode back from a shooting day at Matlock Derbyshire. The suspect was arrested and refuses to give his name claiming to be a German musician.
Governor Mount avoids committing to action while mounting interest in recapture of Marvin Kuhns, the Ohio penitentiary escapee believed hiding in Noble County. Deputy Bowman seeks U. S. marshal work and disputes a fake interview about Kuhns.

Board of works inspectors found the Union station tunnel in a bad state with roof leakage. Union railway officials will repair and the city engineer plans cementing to drain water, after which the tunnel will be painted.
The Indiana car service association reports handling £99 more cars last year than the year before. In Justice Smichs court Friday Han nah Hicks is fined $1 for profanity after swearing at Mrs McElroy. Hicks testified that McElroy called her an old Albino cow. Night watchman Cantrell of Holt ice and cold storage company implicated Bray and Losh in Fletcher Tydell case. Tydell, 24, colored, offered to sell Babbitt metal cheaply and admitted stealing 55 pounds from the News office. Tim Nurse and Jake Hite were arrested by Detectives Asch and Morgan Thursday evening for stealing $200 brasses from Central steel company. they were seen in the building three times that day. Jim Nursa fought his brother. he partly confessed. Hite confessed fully. Secretary W T Dynes of the local civil service commission says exams will be held on Feb 5 for meat inspector and related posts including immigrant inspector draftsman geological survey inspector of khaki material and inspector of manufactured Khaki garments, inspector of shoes and leather, quartermaster department Japanese Interpreter and draftsman marine engines and machinery. John Anderson, colored, jailed Dec 12 for grand larceny and burglary, was taken to the insane asylum Thursday after a persistent Joe hunt. visitors to the prisoners were scrutinized as he muttered No that ain’t Joe I want to see Joe and complained of imaginary wrists to be cut loose.
