In Des Mora Iowa on February 20 a party of grave robbers was arrested near Woodlawn cemetery. The group included Dr J W Overton dean of Drake University medical department and John W Shafer a U S Signal Office employee along with John G Sloan son of a liveryman and workers J W Lart in and W E Burris. They had dug up the body of William Case a county charge who died last week and were taken to the city jail with the coffins. Overton Shafer and Sloan faced charges while others were released. College authorities deny taking anything but pauper bodies and the case caused a medical social scandal.

Switchmen and switch tenders on the Chicago and Western road demand a 25 percent wage increase blocking lines used by Atchison and Santa Fe Grand Trunk and Wabash routes into the city. Police and Pinkertons guard yards. strike may spread as managers convene Thursday. Curacao February 28. Police guard Western Indiana tracks from Polk Street to Twenty first Street to deter strikers. No trains move from Poll street depot. about 150 men are out. replacements will be found in a few days.
Drs Youart and Harrison delivered an autopsy report on Mrs Shawcross body noting a neck bruise from a blunt instrument and facial injuries though not proving death from these wounds. Emily Carnacua testified the wife claimed abuse and confinement by Shawcross, while John Shawcross denied striking or poisoning her.
Two weeks ago Robert Tledgen a boy of six living at 638 West Maryland street was burned when his clothes caught fire from matches. He died Tuesday night and the death was ruled a coroner case. Dr Kane allegedly failed to report, prompting coroner Beck to order an immediate exhumation and pending inquiry into fault among undertakers and physician.
Dr Charles B Wright 85? 16 years old? died Wednesday night after a sudden decline from bowels inflammation and heart trouble. He practiced in Indianapolis since 19th century, taught at Indiana Medical College, served as surgeon general of state militia, and was noted as a specialist in eye and ear. He leaves a widow and two children Edward Gall and Charles, a DePauw student.
The will of Bruce Carr was probated Thursday morning. The estate valued at 40,000 dollars largely benefits daughter Bacel Carr held in trust by executors Maward J. Robinson William H. Smythe and Henry A. Reed until she reaches 21. If she marries before then, the executors may award all funds to her husband as prudent.
Feb 23. A Lake Shore special train collided with an engine at Wickliffe. Engineer James Gill of the special was killed as the lever penetrated his body. Fireman is believed to be trapped under wreckage.
