Freprenierh Maryland February 16 William Leonard hanged in jail yard for the September murder of Jesse Anderson. He confessed to killing his third wife and her newborn twins and had assumed the surname Leonard to spare his family disgrace. An Englishman with a brother in the British army, Leonard led a roving life and was drunk when he shot Anderson, a Baltimore and Ohio truckman. The case was reviewed by Sir Julien Pauncefote, who declined intervention.
