Big Bell at Fire Station to Come Down
Chief Coots reports a 600 pound bell weight in the tower descended and halted by a single chain link. Dismantling would cost about 300 dollars, and the aging bell no longer suits the modern alarm system. A replacement bell will be placed at Ohio and Pennsylvania streets after neighbors complained of night chimes. Corner officers protest apparatus occupying the street before warning signals to stop are given.
