Police hunt more than 9,000 officers and detectives for an unidentified chauffeur after a black touring car struck and killed Mrs Edwin McCook. A second man, Walter Schumann, surrendered claiming innocence and distress over the accident on Madison Avenue.
Two masked men halted Denver & Rio Grande train No 4 at Military Junction near Fort Logan at 3 15 am robbed the mail car and registered mail then fled. They fired revolvers to threaten passengers and forced the crew to continue to Denver with the robbers heading toward Fort Logan as last seen.
Senator Strange argues defeat of the Mattingly road bill would keep a harsh three mile law on the books. He votes for the bill, followed by others, leading to a 31 to 9 passage. The amended measure gives county commissioners discretionary powers and allows challenges to petitions to dismiss road actions. The phrase or other material was removed to bar asphalt boulevards in rural lanes. Mattingly denounces the measure as unwise.
In Saint Petersburg a police warrant names Maxim Gorky a house painter from Nizhni Novgorod and seeks his arrest. Gorky, then in Italy, may move to Florence, as officials voice eagerness to exile him Siberia. The charge relates to a political crime.

Mrs Charles Byrack of Shirley Indiana collapsed at Union Station on Saturday morning while awaiting a train home. She suffered heart trouble and died before aid could arrive. A preceding attack Friday evening near the Union Station led to medical attention and temporary recovery. The body was sent to Shirley for burial after being taken to the city morgue.
Six members of the South-side Republican club at South and East streets faced fines after pleading guilty to visiting a gambling house and playing poker. Acting Police Judge Wilkinson fined five men $15 each and keeper George Scott $2. Named defendants include George Adams Harry Jones Harry Furgerson Frank Johnson and Charles Williams.

Oliver Bradley of 1352 Kensington Street was arrested Saturday afternoon on a charge of cutting his wife’s throat. Mrs. Bradley, living with her mother, was attacked after a quarrel at the mother-in-law’s home. Her condition is reported serious. Bradley was described as jealous.
Thomas Dow fell dead Saturday afternoon at the corner of Illinois and Washington streets. Heart disease listed as the cause. The bank book found on his body identified him. He resided at Forty-eighth and Meridian streets.
Gorman Bridges, 11, of Douglass Street, was struck by a street car at Blake and Michigan streets on Saturday afternoon. His left foot was severed in the incident.
