Charles Lancaster, a Negro chauffeur for Maurice Pennelly, was fined one dollar and costs after repeated court appearances since Dec 29, 1908 for violating the motor speed law. The boy Nicholas, knocked from his bicycle, had the assault and battery charge dismissed in Florida. Lancaster’s hearing was repeatedly postponed. corner policeman Woodward testified the car went faster than eight miles an hour, though Donnelly disputed this. Donnelly paid the fine and settled with the injured boy months ago. Nicholas resided at 229 Warren Avenue at the time.

Fast Train Derails Near Union injuring many
At Union Missouri on February 9 the Kansas City St. Louis east bound train No 28 derailed at high speed. One conductor J D Reach was killed while six others were fatally injured and about 30 more seriously hurt as engine and several cars plunged down a 20 foot embankment. A defective rail is blamed for the wreck.

AID SALOON RUNS WOMEN ARRESTS AND THEFT CHARGE
For a week Patrome1 Sandman and Bledsoe have cleared saloons of women and ordered many from the streets. Detectives on special duty found two Irving suspects in a rooming house. they were locked up on a larceny charge for allegedly taking $80 from a man in a saloon.
