In Indianapolis a joint conference between miners and operators continues with no firm wage scale. An executive miners session followed the meeting and the scale committee was empowered to act as per standings. Operators offered a raise, but not as large as requested.
In a heated exchange, Mayor Harrison accuses Indianapolis Manufactures Association head Parry of pursuing self interest and ignorance. He taunts Parry for criticizing Chicago while defending labor-police actions during a strike and suggests Parry lacks understanding of city conditions.
Subscriptions to the Coliseum stock race to 125000 by Saturday afternoon’s meeting. It marks the thirtieth day since the first subscriptions with 96.50 raised so far. Promoters expect larger pledges, including from steam cars and interurban railways, as work continues and public support grows for a dividend-bearing venture.
Senator Goodwine introduces a bill to sell all tracts including the deaf and dumb school and a large tract north of it. The measure also calls for buying new ground near Indianapolis for the school and erecting new buildings. President B C Nicholson called Parry's statements far more dangerous to the country than anarchy and said manufacturers and capitalists cannot counter organized labor while labor leaders are insulted and maligned.
The coroner is asked to investigate the death of Henry A. Knoop Jr s seven week old son at 62% Down. The child s Christian Scientist parents did not seek medical care, prompting inquiry. Also reported: Concordia Society festival held at Germania hall with grand march noted. An assault at Dean s pump works injured a co worker. A buggy accident left Kawara Landers in critical condition.
W J Binich foreman and 20 workers from Brunswick Balke Collender Co arrive from Chicago to construct alleys for the national bowling tournament running February 21 to March. The hall must be handed to workers by Monday and is expected to take the entire tournament period to complete. If miners and operators fail to finish this week another hall may be secured for St. Louis.
In Indiana lawmakers debate a prosecutors pay raise with 57 prosecutors from counties over 20,000 population pushing for higher salaries. Sayre of Wabash introduced an amendment to apply the increase to current prosecutors, the measure passed, prompting strong reactions as officials swore vengeance.
Commercial club directors pressured changes to a police pension bill in the legislature. A. L. Mason, on the club legislative committee, criticized the measure during Friday's directors meeting. The bill would have given benefits only to officers on the force when passed, prompting attendees to seek committee amendments.
A four story brick wall at the Strangs building on Fillmore Avenue in Buffalo collapsed Friday morning. About a score of laborers were buried under debris. Five were killed and several injured workers are expected to die.

In Columbus Indiana Charles Fitzgibbon and his wife died at their Fourth Street home from wood alcohol poisoning. Fitzgibbon had been unwell and reportedly drank the poison as relief before dying Thursday evening. Mrs Fitzgibbon died Friday morning as her husband had already succumbed. Neighbors and the mother of the couple were present but unable to summon aid in time.
Commercial club directors on Thursday adopted a resolution urging the legislature to grant Indianapolis authority to secure relief from the evils of railroads at grade. William Fortune and others commented on the elevated track issue. Southside Citizens' Improvement Club also passed a resolution asking state lawmakers to empower elevation of tracks.

The Hague Feb 6 The Allies want President Roosevelt to agree to settle the dispute now. If he refuses, it is unlikely the powers will accept. Secretary Hay will inform them that The Hague tribunal is the proper site to settle the matter unless Minister Bowen can arrange a settlement.

Police court heard from prosecutor Ira M Holmes that saloonkeepers may sell liquor on Sundays only in a licensed barroom described in the Nicholson law and cannot be moved against by city or state authorities for Sunday sales. William Wallace faced an assault charge in the case at John Dowdell's saloon, with Dowdell and witness Pomeroy testifying to the incident.
