The anarchist Vaillant was executed by guillotine in Paris at 7 10 am. He refused the chaplain and drank nothing before death, shouting Death to the Bourgeoisie and Long live anarchy. The crowd was orderly, witnesses noted the strong security as the blade fell.

A mob of about 400 men gathered around the Boone County jail after Frank Hall, a Black man, was brought from Lebanon Indiana for a preliminary hearing on rape charges. Hall was later bound over for circuit court with a $500 bond, then the mob attacked the jail, rope around his neck, and Hall was later secured. ultimately he was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Riley McBride a carpenter living at 44 Washington Street was arrested late Sunday evening charged with family mistreatment of his 16 year old daughter. Neighbors provided the information claiming six to seven months of abuse. The girl has been detained as a witness and says she left home months ago to work in private homes to escape her father's mistreatment. McBride denies the charge claiming his daughter has caused him trouble.
John Eckert of San Pierro filed a $5,000 damages suit Monday in the Vanderburgh County circuit court against Frederick C. Miller of Keuts. The case involves a murder charge against Eckert by Miller’s complaint. the earlier October term dismissed the case for lack of evidence.
Lawrence eraed a teacher in city schools and once held substantial property but fell on hard times. He moved to the poor farm in 1891 due to ill health and dwindling wealth, died there Monday at age 52. He was known as the professor among inmates and had no known living relatives. Heart failure is suspected as the cause.
An accidental dynamite cartridge explosion at a drainage cut near Romeo on a Saturday noon killed contractor W. J. Comer and laborer Christopher Tessir. Five or more men were injured, including Tessir’s cousin and Dominick Tessir, with severe wounds and burns. The blast hurled workers, as debris and dust filled the air, and Comer died Sunday night while others were left unable to rise.
