Negro Highwayman Attacks Miss Slater Near City Hospital
Miss Gertrude Slater of 711 Shelby Street, office worker at the City hospital, was attacked at 6 am after waiting for a streetcar at Virginia Avenue and Grove Street. A small man struck her head several times with a club or hose, but she remained conscious, wearing a fur collar that saved her head.
