Lynching of Alfred Holt in Owensboro Kentucky
Alfred Holt, alias Alexander, murdered Policeman W. A. White and was hanged by a mob in the Owensboro court house yard at 2:20 AM. The mob overpowered Deputy Jailer Ashby Jr. and seized Holt from a jail cell after quiet entry. Holt prayed before the rope, then died within ten minutes. Kentucky records note this as the sixth lynching in as many days.
