Severe weather blindsided Denison residents as a major snowstorm collapsed poles and overloaded wires. Telephones, telegraphs, and streetcars faced widespread outages. damage included downed lines, broken poles, and stranded sleepers. Officials warned of ongoing risk as crews repair tangled networks.
A Washington dispatch reports President Roosevelt offers Edward J. Phelps of Vermont and Robert T. Lincoln of Illinois spots on the Venezuelan high commission. The third seat awaits their acceptance. In Curacao doubts arise about Lincoln’s appointment as gossip circulates. Lincoln has been in Philadelphia on a court case and is expected home Thursday.

At Yori and Vaft Pinnapenninia on December 26, about 100 Girard avenue division employees who had struck presented grievances to General Manager Beetem. After a morning meeting and half hour talk Beetem promised to improve conditions and even exceed the prior settlement plan. The men voted to stay on the job at 2 am Thursday and no uniformed workers will be dispatched from the Girard avenue depot. cars on the division are running regularly and no further trouble is anticipated.
Township trustees met in room 12 at the state house on Thursday to discuss aid for the poor. They proposed providing transportation when a poor person can obtain self support elsewhere in the state, citing difficulties with unpaid doctors. A poor woman refused access to a township physician in her home despite one being her family doctor.
The will of William R. Evans probated Thursday leaves the Delaware Street home to his wife Margaret A and the family horses and carriages. Sons Geo and Edward receive 10000 each, with 8000 to Earlham College endowment and 500 to Central Academy Plainfield. A 2500 gift to the Society of Friends funds a new church edifice if 7500 is raised within three years. executed March 5, 1892, wife and sons named executrix and executors.

Wednesday evening a well dressed woman about 35 caused a crowd on Wabash near the Denison pool room. Drunken and unable to tell her residence, she cried, collapsed in the gutter, and was escorted away by a stranger after threats of police. Bystanders, strangers to her, were moved to tears.

Patrolman Mathey pursued him toward Hiberty, triggering a mob in West Indianapolis and a chase that sent Galloway swimming the river three times before capture and confinement at the city police station.
In Sei a De Goenmiig near Independence county on December 26 George fiegers and Will French, two young men, fought over a girl with knives. French was fatally cut in the face and back. Bud Grayson, colored, was arrested for interfering with an arrest. He testified at police court on Thursday that he and others were in Pat Ward's saloon on Mississippi Street Christmas Day and bought drinks. Officers Harris and Asche, summoned by the disturbance, found no sign the saloon was open. Grayson accused Ward after the officers arrived, and when told to mind his own business, he allegedly threatened to remove the officers' badges and shoved an officer as he was placed under arrest.
A car on College Avenue turned onto Massachusetts Avenue Wednesday evening and collided with a College Avenue trailer. The impact badly de moralized the trailer though the passengers were not hurt.
