The Salvation Army distributes dinners and coal to the needy in the city. More than 1,000 children attend a Christmas entertainment and receive treats, new shoes for 203 boys and girls, and encouragement from the cheerful mayor.
The Salvation Army provided 350 Christmas dinners to poor families and 203 pairs of new shoes for children. About 200 half ton lots of coal were distributed to destitute households, and 1,000 children received entertainment and treats at Tomlint on hail.
Salvation Army leaders Major Escott and Ensign Mancello organized 550 food baskets for 3,750 people and distributed 200 half ton of coal to 200 poor families. Over 1,000 children attended a Tomlinson Hall Christmas program with shoes, candy, oranges and nuts. Mayor Bookwalter and Mayor-elect Shank spoke as 203 pairs of new shoes and additional gifts were handed out.
