A dynamite bomb exploded in the French chamber of deputies as members filled the gallery. Deputies Lemire and Devillers were mangled, an usher killed, and an American woman plus two other ladies wounded. Police sealed the chamber amid chaotic reports of casualties.
Mrs. Mary Butler claimed a sick stomach caused her woes after drinking at a depot. Painter John Hasenbeck found her crying and offered help but they were arrested by patrolmen. In court Butler pleaded guilty to drunkenness and paid a $1 fine plus costs. Hasenbeck was freed after recalling the incident.

Five masked burglars entered Paul Gibbs’s home in South Frammeton Massachusetts on Friday night at gunpoint. They forced Gibbs to open the safe and took about $1000 plus valuables from the house. The hired man was forced to hitch up the best team as the burglars escaped in a buggy.
