High Pressure Water Supply Details and System Upgrades
The article outlines the water utility's capacity including six filter beds two basins and 33 deep wells totaling 37 million gallons daily plus potential rise to 72 million during demand. It recalls the Coburn warehouse fire's 188 hours and 198 million gallons pumped, and cites mains conduits pumping capacity at Riverside and lower stations totaling 89 million gallons daily. It argues the high pressure system is expensive and not essential, lists several streets lacking mains and dead ends, and proposes upgrading mains from 4 to 20 inches on key corridors and adding hydrants with shut-off valves while criticizing contract provisions for limiting streams and lacking clear rate metering guidance.
