Dreyfus faced LeBrun-Renaud and other officers in a two hour secret session with Gen Deloye and Maj Hartman testifying on the bordereau. Witnesses debated how Dreyfus might have obtained documents, while LeBrun-Renaud recalled alleged statements and Dreyfus denied any confession. The court adjourned after Dreyfus thanked Mas Forzinetti for support.
The Dreyfus court martial will deliver its verdict without the accused present. Dreyfus remains in his cell as troops surround him while the judgment is announced by an officer from the court at the prison. Paris reports Marquis de Valcarlos plans to sue the Figaro for alleging he was paid 1500 francs to inform on Dreyfus.
A Marienbad dispatch reports French war minister Gen Gallifet intends to resign from the government once the Dreyfus affair is resolved.
Paris reported that President Jouast will cut short further evidence at the Rennes court martial trial. The last witness is expected Saturday, with prosecution speeches to follow Monday and Tuesday. Verdict likely Thursday September 7.
Civil War veterans George W. Turner and Charles C. Wilson drank together in Indianapolis. They attracted attention on New Jersey Street near the German House and rolled onto a lawn. Wilson claimed Turner robbed him. Turner denied and was searched. Wilson had no money. a tobacco pouch was found on Turner.

Charles F. Kennedy secretary of the State board of agriculture announces the planned race at the state fair between John R. Gentry Joe Patchen and Searchlight has been withdrawn due to Searchlight’s performance in the 2 00 pace at Hartford on Wednesday. Kennedy notes the fair's speed program will still feature free for all pacers and that the Hartford result suggests an evenly matched field and an unpredictable outcome. The next children’s rehearsal for the state fair chorus is set for Friday evening. no new singers are needed as the chorus is full.
William Sheets, a druggist at 1820 W Washington St, was fined by Judge Cox for assaulting 8 year old Fred Horn at 13825 W Washington St. Sheets kicked Horn causing unconsciousness and bleeding. Horn recovered, and a second boy retaliated against Horn’s sister.

The noon edition notes Gold Democrats claim Taggart had no role in Wednesday night resolutions opposing him. Four propositions were discussed: support Bookwalter, support Taggart, run a gold Democratic ticket, or abstain. Anti-Taggart resolutions passed despite reluctance to reveal attendee count.

Gen Otis reports Col Bayess sent a punitive expedition against insurgents at Cebu after ambush and killing of American soldiers. An all day battle left the insurgents routed with no American casualties. The rebels used cannon firing nails and scrap iron.
In Boston Aug 31 Edward Atkinson issues No. 1 of The Anti imperialist magazine. An article accuses top officials of deception and breach of faith and urges citizens to stop supplies of men and money. It notes disruption of mail and promises to continue spreading alleged treasonous statements to sustain printing.
George B Williams and his wife travel from Philadelphia to San Francisco on a tandem, aiming to complete the trip in days for a $7000 stake. They left Philadelphia broke and plan to earn by selling photos and lecturing. Mrs Williams dominates talk and speaks in a broad accent, saying they have logged about 45 miles daily and 135 miles in the Alleghenies.
A representative of George Greer of New Castle Pennsylvania will come to Indianapolis to claim a recovered horse. Frank Roberts was arrested with the animal and sent to the workhouse for stealing the harness. Greer telegraphs the horse is valued at $500 and records show ownership.
