Shocking Irvington crime revelation ties H H Holmes to the Pietzel disappearance. Workers uncover charred bones, teeth, and a trunk under a porch, with a stove and chimney flue revealing mass evidence of murder. Detectives connect Alias A E Cook to the Cincinnati and Irvington houses.
Theodore B. Gillam of Indianapolis, supreme organizer of the Oriental league, was stabbed to death after a disorderly incident at Slaughter's park Louisville Tuesday night shortly after 11. He died in 80 minutes leaving a widow and two children. Gillam lived at 244 Immon street and his wife was notified.
George Dixon won a 21 round decision over Johnny Griffin before about 3,000 fans in Boston. Dixon dominated early and finished strong, landing early blows and flooring Griffin in the third. Griffin pressed for a knockout in the last five rounds but failed.
Ex-Police Justice Patrick Gavan Duity died Wednesday morning in New York from paralysis. He had a world wide reputation as a unique disposer of justice.

A G A C R member predicts Irvin Robbins as adjutant general if T N Walker becomes commander. Prohibition rally planned in criminal court. Indiana oufielder Hogan and Umpire Sheridan drew ire as Indianapolis slumped to a 7 to 2 loss to Minneapolis. Canavan and Root shone in the field while Newell and Blackburn sparked the visitors with timely two base hits amid a flurry of late scoring.
A Chicago tied new wife, Mrs. F. W. Rose, vanished with ex-lover Myron Powell after a brief Chicago marriage. Rose, ill at home, heard of the escapade as Wills traced the pair through Blacherne flats. Powell, secretary of Princess knitting mills, was seen near the Rose apartments before fleeing. Prior to marriage, Mrs Rose was Etta B. Smith, a Chase Sanborn stenographer.
Street commissioner Fisher, seen by a Sun reporter, faces a Thursday hearing before the Board of Works with the civil service board as audience over alleged violations by hiring men off the eligible list. He defends the rule as impracticable and accuses mayoral and board politics of mistreatment. He also cites his precinct vote against Mayor Denny and criticizes Member White’s role.
Adjutant-general Robbins received a package Tuesday containing some of the silverware taken by soldiers of the Indiana national guard at Peru on return from camp. More ware is expected in a day or two. A statement will be issued by the two offending companies once all is returned. The silverware is valued at 316.
A Labor Day matinee at the Park will open Edwin Foy and his burlesque company totaling 70 performers. The event marks a major twofold business push for Amassrennts in the plays and players column.

Harmissure Aug 28 There will be one convention to decide the state chairmanship between Senator Quay and Gilkeson after a compromise. Six superior court judges will be renominated and the convention roll will grant half votes to each contestant. Delegates gathered slowly as Hastings badges faded and Pittsburg police cleared the hall. Robinson led for chairman with 18317 votes over Hall 16323. Robinson was nominated unanimously.
A letter to the secretary of state by Mr Owen reports Mrs Owen’s health failing since leaving Indianapolis. They traveled to the Maine coast and Newport then New Haven seeking relief, expecting to return by September 1. Her illness worsened steadily with doctors uncertain about the illness’s nature.
Pa patrolman Streit arrested a man at Georgia and Mississippi streets Tuesday night. The detainee, who gave the name John Smith, could not explain his whereabouts and carried a ring inscribed Rom Frank to Nora Dec 9 1892 and a revolver. Frank Mayers of 962 8S Stast identified the ring and pants. The watch matched a burglary on Grayst Street. Smith was bound over to the grand jury.
A rolling rock struck the Colorado Midland express near Buena Vista on Tuesday night wrecking baggage and smoking cars. F. J. O Connor of New York was killed. Injured include J. W. Ritchie of Kansas City and Thomas Boestler of Dayton Ohio. A trick pony valued at 1500 dollars belonging to the Fay circus was also killed in the baggage car. O Connor was on the platform at the time of the accident.
James Getty, ex-councilman and liquor wholesaler, was fatally shot by Alexander Hutchinson in Gettys office over leasing Gettys hotel property to Hutchinson. The incident occurred Wednesday morning. Getty died at once. The case follows a dispute tied to the Merchants hotel leasing. The county superintendent law decision was postponed to Friday as Judge McCabe could not attend. the court must rule on the law before an election next Monday potentially creating three superintendents in some counties.
