Death of Indianapolis Pioneer John Carlisle Passes On
John Carlisle an Indianapolis pioneer died at his home 442 North East Street on Thursday morning. Born near Belfast Ireland in 1807 he came to America at seventeen and moved to Indianapolis in 1837 where he ran in the milling business and controlled the grain market for years. He was married three times and his third wife along with five of his eleven children survive. The funeral time will be set when family members outside the city can be reached.
