In center township five justices of the peace report 115 persons declared insane since January 1 and sent to asylums. Some are sent to Marion county asylum at Julietta, now crowded, others to Central hospital. The county jail and police station hold over 20 insane. Officials seek relief and possible move to the workhouse building. The system is criticized for possible railroading and monetized bias. Committal pay for officials and doctors is cut to four dollars.
