Paris Aug 11 The government will press enforcement of the law on church state separation despite the pope's stance that church affairs should not be run by lay negotiations. A brawl near Crab Orchard Virginia left A C Powers of Laurens South Carolina and Charles Smith of Auburville North Carolina dead. Powers refused to surrender a crewman during an attempted arrest by a Virginia constable and a melee followed, with both Powers and Smith killed instantly.
