He has played the watermelon man since 1865 after a Charleston song inspired his act earning thousands of dollars.

About this time last year two real estate agents who rented property occupied four houses of ill fame were indicted. One agent C F Sayles stood trial and won. The grand jury indicted owners or agents of about 20 houses and Saturday four were bound for trial. The agents Cruse McCullough and Sayles with owner William Gulliver posted bonds. The agents say the case is an annual occurrence and if the prosecutor must fight every case he will abandon the field.
