Indiana plans fixed workmen compensation bill
Indiana council of the National Civic Federation and Indiana Bar Association draft a bill to fix compensation for industrial injuries. The plan envisions a state court with special jurisdiction to apply fixed schedules of life and limb values, with an optional suit to seek higher damages. Employers would bear the cost, passing some burden to the public, while constitutional questions and trial rights are debated.

City Hospital Gains In Upgraded Standards
Improvements at Indianapolis City Hospital include a stone and iron fence, new cement sidewalks, a modern service ward with separate dining areas, expanded bath facilities, and updated kitchens. Tuberculosis colonies and contagious disease wards have been enhanced, a large laundry and sterilizing setup added, ambulances redirected to rear doors, and records bound. Despite progress, officials say the city’s hospital remains the region’s weakest large municipal facility and requires more beds, new buildings, and a dedicated laboratory with a chief in charge.
