A man known as Vagrant Frank Richardson claimed his foot was in a blacksmith shop for repairs and begged passersby for money. Police Judge Stubbs told him to leave town quickly to avoid trouble. Richardson promised to go, even if he had to desert his foot.
London August 9 King Edward was crowned at 12 21 p m in Westminster Abbey in a ceremony watched by peers in scarlet and white sandals. The archbishop anointed and crowned him as crowds cheered the king and queen, with salutes from guns and bells. The procession featured the Queen in a long train and the Stone of Scone beneath the altar. American and other international guests attended, including J P Morgan and embassy staff.

A body believed to be William Barthoin was found in Norman park Chicago on Saturday. He is linked as the lover of Minnie Mitchell whose body was found Friday at Seventy Fourth and State streets and believed murdered. It is thought he killed her and then died by his own action. His mother Mrs Anna Barthoin has been missing for two months and is thought murdered by him.
A police station matron in the women’s department locked herself in a cell Saturday morning amid cries for help. Bailiff Dawson heard the noise, found Matron Gregoire inside, and after the matron secured the door, the key was given to the Bailiff and she was released.
