Laughable end to Bank of Corydon tax appeal before State Tax Board
The State Tax Board dropped the Bank of Corydon appeal after the bank failed to prove notes receivable over $200,000 could not be collected. Ex-Senator George Self led the bank’s defense, while the Board of Review claimed notes were worth their face value. The room grew hot and sleepy as Attorney General Taylor teased Self about catching a train, and the case ended amid laughter and jokes about Harrison County Republicans.
