Robert J. Kilpatrick, a prominent Philadelphia politician and brother-in-law of a police captain, was arrested for an alleged robbery at the United States Mint in Philadelphia. He reportedly has a seven year history and was captured after a day of varied service operations.
McCullough would not state support for the proposed ticket. He would not comment on backing the ticket or alignment with the party platform. The candidate avoided committing to any coalition or public endorsement at this time.

Secretary of War moves toward taking possession of Merchants Bridge over the Mississippi at St Louis amid alleged monopoly and extortionate tolls.
