Deserter Geo Walker Re-enlists at Army Station

A deserter from Capt Buckner's Mount Camp is identified as Geo Walker who enlisted ten days earlier and wore a uniform. He appeared later at the regular army recruiting station on North Illinois Street claiming never to have served before. Walker was sent to Fort McPherson after initial misstatements.

Disappointing Reply Ends with 45 Day Town Leave

A well dressed colored man identified as George Strauss faced police court on loitering and associating with thieves charges. He requested to leave town and was told to depart in about 45 days. Louisville Chief Hanger identified him as George Slaughter a known professional thief. Strauss was in a lodging house with a known thief Hubbard. He received fines totaling 5 dollars and 30 days in two cases.

Forecast for Indianapolis area for the next 36 hours calls for Thursday night warmer and fair conditions with Friday air. Temperatures recorded 64 at 7 am and 73 at 2 pm Thursday. In Bethany park the Christian women's board of missions meets with papers on Indiana's stand by Effie Cunningham and Indian address on mission work in India.
