The Knife Throwers Y Frederick Van Rensselaer Dey
Burr Pendleton a New York gentleman is drawn into a Mexico duel with Captain Romero after a mysterious Mexican woman tries to block the fight. Pendleton is kidnapped and held at Carmen’s house, then escapes with his servant Pancho aiding a staged return. He returns to New York, where he is found dead with a dagger in his chest. Coroner’s jury accuses the servant James Ferguson of murder as Wyndham probes a tangled motive linking Romero, Eyacadona, and Pendleton’s travels to Mexico. James finally reveals a hidden family secret tied to Pendleton’s life in Mexico and a possible second marriage. The story continues with more revelations about Pendleton’s past and the true cause of his murder.
