Two men robbed Ben Marsh's gambling house behind the Peabody hotel in Memphis. They spent three minutes inside and escaped with about 3300 dollars, including 2500 from a table wallet and 300 from Marsh's pocketbook, after ordering four men to lie still at gunpoint.
New York April 17 Francis B Loomis minister to Venezuela denies an alleged San Juan cabl ed interview about President Castro and U S policy. Loomis arrived from Venezuela and says he will go to Washington to report while declining further discussion of Venezuelan affairs or recall rumors. He would not comment on the asphalt war or any communication to President McKinley.

Russell J Armstrong files suit against John J Cooper for $5000 claiming a hallway ice slip caused by water from a defective faucet in Cooper's building at 904 Fort Wayne Avenue. The incident alleges negligence and damages from the accident.
J. W. Willard a 53 year old Bedfort Indiana lawyer and son of ex Governor Ashbel T. Willard was found dead in a Clarendon hotel bed. Dr Swann contends opium poisoning while Dr Russell argues natural causes. Russell notes powders and quinine were taken the night before.
Deputy Sheriff Louis Kiefer located William A. Rusie the delinquent juryman at an East Washington street boarding house Wednesday morning. A barn fire at 2298 College Ave owned by Margaret Bruce burned a half barrel of potatoes. Small boys, excited by smoke, pelted the rat that scampered about the loft, battering the water spout and roof as the firemen dodged the improvised projectiles.
