In Wilkesbarre Pennsylvania Fred Price, a young man described as dashing, was jailed on a theft charge after obtaining $700 from Miss Ben Allen's father to buy furniture for a home. He convinced her to pay bills with the money, then fled west. Traced to Cincinnati and Bennet Pennsylvania, he confessed to spending the funds.
