City attorney Curtis and Albert J Beveridge argued before the Indiana Supreme Court on a case from Marion circuit court about a charter provision requiring landowners to reside on annexed land to remonstrate. Four parcels north of Fall Creek were annexed to Indianapolis. Jefferson Claypool, owner of some land, lived elsewhere. Claypool challenged the rule as unconstitutional under Indiana and the U S Constitution.
Anderson Indiana April 15. Jesse Smith a pioneer farmer was struck by a Big Four train at Alexandria Wednesday morning and died instantly. His horse spooked and backed the buggy into the rapidly moving train.

In Brooklyn on Wednesday Frederick Merrick aged 8 lived with his wife Ida at 79 South Fifth Street. While she slept Merrick shot her twice then killed himself. The 6-year-old child and a servant girl were unharmed. Neighbors heard the shots and the coroner investigates motive jealousy alleged.

Two workers died and several others were injured when two powder blasts hit a Chicago fireworks plant near Grosse Point on Wednesday morning.
